19/08/08 RD 1 CHOPPER FC 3 vs 3 TAC

Lady Luck was clearly not looking down on Chopper FC last night as an entertaining 3-3 draw could so easily been a comfortable opening fixture win for the division 2 hopefulls.

Although 2-0 down inside the first 10mins it was down to some unlucky finishing and the woodwork that Chopper FC had not taken a lead. The return of Dom Care saw a more attacking style to the game and many chances fell to the nimble forward without any reward.

Although 2-0 down at half time there was plenty of optimism in the camp and that was rewarded when the score line was brought back to 2-2 with 10mins remaining. Goals courtesy of Dom Care and the ever reliable defender Nick.

Chopper FC then looked to have stolen all 3 points when once again Nick pounced on a goal line scramble to make it 2-3 with only 5mins to go. But ecstasy was to turn to heartache as a hopeful long range shot from a TAC forward took a slight deflection and found its way into the net to level scores once again to 3-3.

It could have once again so easily been Chopper FC’s night as the wood work was struck no less then 2 times and a fantastic opportunity missed by Cam Walker after a low cross from Liam Tench was to prove a all to familiar story for the Boys.

All in all a draw was a better result then a loss and 1 point is on the board for the team that fancy their chances for the title. Tonight’s fixture see’s the Wed squad making their Div 1 debut. Kick-off is at 10pm so make sure you get down there to support the boys.
