review of 19th and 20th Aug games
Tonight see’s Chopper FC battle it out against the unknown side of TAC with the two teams yet to meet in competitive fixture.
It will be the last grading match before the start of the season and after last weeks 8-4 drubbing the team will be expected to work on some new tactics before points are up to play for.
An injury cloud is over the head of new signing Luke Foster as he battles with a case of general soreness after last weeks match, Foster is expected to undergo a fitness test later today to see if the midfielder is deemed fit enough by the match selection panel.
The return of fans favourite Dominico Care will be a major boost to the squad as it has struggled in front of goal during his absence of the grading matches. Care had been unavailable because of family commitments but has returned to the team early to gain some match fitness before the start of the season.
The club can also reveal that an official approach for the goalkeeping services of Michael Osaruk has been submitted to the player’s agent and a decision is understood to be released after 5pm today. If the deal is agreed today it is likely that Michael will be eligible to play in tonight’s fixture as Chopper FC will apply for an “emergency player loan” before completing the transfer tomorrow after tonight’s game.
Wednesday night will see the start of the Wed night competition for Chopper FC in the prestige’s and dizzy heights of Division 1. The league will feature 13 teams battling it out for the championship with the bookies having Chopper FC 4/1 2nd favourites to be in the relegation spot come end of season. Reihngold Rebels are the bookies early favourites at 3-1 to take the title but Chopper FC and using the 8-8 draw with the Rebels in the grading fixtures as proof that they are not here to be taken lightly and are looking forward to upsetting quite a few teams throughout the duration of the season.
Like the Tuesday team, the wed night team is expected to be kicking off with a full squad to choose from when they take on the Commerce All Stars at the strange kick off time of 10pm. Once again not much is known about the opposition but they sound like a well educated lot so beware that they would have done their homework on Chopper FC during the last few weeks.
On a social level I wish to give everyone a big thankyou for all the support the team has received lately, It is something the squad are very aware of and it gives them much to play for to know that they have fantastic fan support behind them.
I hope you have enjoyed the launch of the new website (www.chopperfc.com) is it guaranteed to get much more info on it during the next few weeks. Make sure you visit the forum and register so you can leave some comments on the team. We welcome it with open arms.
